Course Title:  Loan Evaluation & Interview Skills for Credit Unions  

Description: In today’s economic environment having a robust loan evaluation process is essential to the well being of a Credit Union. The loan interview is a critical element of this process and provides the Loan Officer with the opportunity to not only establish the facts and circumstances of the potential borrower but also to strengthen the relationship between the member and the credit union.

A structured effective interview enables the Credit Union to make an informed responsible lending decision and avoid losses that could have been identified at the outset.

Aim: This course provides participants with the technical skills required to analyse loan applications and the communication skills to confidently conduct the interview

Objectives: At the end of the course participants will have:

• Identified the key principles involved in evaluating loan applications
• Established how to calculate the Repayment Capacity of the member  
• A clear understanding of how to conduct a structured interview 
• Identified techniques used to create and maintain a positive atmosphere at the interview   
• Identified the core communication skills used to obtain full information at the interview  
• The confidence to deal with objections and deliver "bad" news
• Practised conducting Loan Interviews in a supportive environment
• Excellent reference notes for use in the future
